eco-bot.net (2021 – Ongoing)
Network-based performance, Net art
Duration: COP26 Climate Talks (9:00am 1st November – 18:00pm 12th November)
(with Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja, Dale Vince)
A network-based performance by a series of AI-powered bots exposed and flagged climate change disinformation and corporate greenwashing content on social media during the COP26 Climate Talks. The performance took place on social media corporation’s plaforms and APIs, as well as on the project website.
As part of the performance, a series of ‘data drops’ using sector-wide data gathered from eco-bot.net’s systems were also released and visualised online revealing analysis of the hidden data behind corporate greenwashing campaigns for high polluting actors and sectors including carbon majors, energy, aviation, industrial farming, lobbying and COP26 sponsors.
Project Update:
Eco-bot.Net is currently being developed in partnership with Oxford University’s Human Centered Computing Department and Climate Litigation Lab and will be relaunched as the Climate Ad Archive in 2024/25.
