Stitched Up

April, 2011

In 1917,  Britain signed over the territorial control of Palestine and thus began the creation of the Israel in the aftermath of World War II. Both Jewish and Arab citizens have the fundemental right for self determination however there has been a state level policy of occupation of Palestinian lands alongside a systematic, cultural destruction of Palestinian resources and freedoms. The situation is now indicative of a form of Apartheid in the Middle East. ‘Stitched Up’ saw a new unauthorised and temporary public monument that seeks to make visible the political relationships and power structures that reinforce the current, ongoing occupation of Palestine.
